Description

This tour offers the chance to discover the unique environment of Mali Ston Bay and learn about a shellfish farming tradition that has been practiced here for more than 800 years. The experience begins with a short boat ride from the main port in Mali Ston.
After boarding the boat, guests are offered a welcome drink of traditional homemade brandy and local Dalmatian sweets such as sugared orange peel and sugared almonds. While sailing across the calm waters of the bay, the group will enjoy views of the oyster farms and surrounding landscape.
The destination is a wooden floating dock positioned right in the middle of the oyster farm. Locals call it the “Oyster Bar.” Here, an English-speaking guide provides an informative presentation about the history of oyster cultivation in the region, the farming process, and the specific environmental factors that contribute to the quality of the shellfish.
After the introduction, guests can taste unlimited quantities of fresh oysters, opened and served directly from the sea. Bottled water, still or sparkling, is provided, along with sparkling wine (one bottle per two people), making the tasting experience complete.
